         East Keswick Village Hall is searching for the right people to grow our team and expand our capability!

                     A general caretaker & hndyman:

  • 2 to 4hrs a week

CARETAKER & HANDYMAN

 

As a Caretaker in the East Keswick Village Hall, you will be motivated and enthusiastic and willing to provide your time and effectively engage in your community. We are looking for individuals who live locally (East Keswick or surrounding villages) and who would be able to provide between 2-4 hours a week to the Village Hall helping in its running. Ultimately, we are looking for individuals who are problem solvers, are reliable and have some experience in DIY.

 

You will work 1-2 hours a week directly on jobs relating to Village Hall Maintenance. Additionally, you will work with groups using East Keswick Village Hall and on Events organized in the Village Hall (this could be anything between 0 - 4 hours a week; and it will vary from week to week). Additionally, you will be a Village Hall key holder, and we will ask you to provide us with assistance to open and close the Village Hall (while you will be working within a helpful team, and you must be willing to be flexible and generally available outside of regular 9am-5pm hours).

 

Your regular duties will involve:

  • To test the fire alarm system weekly and record the results

  • To test the emergency lighting system on a scheduled basis and record the result

  • To monitor the first aid box regularly and restock where necessary

  • To complete the ‘event hand back’ checklist following private events and return to the Hall Manger for actioning a Bond Refund

  • Checking kitchen & bar inventory

  • Acting as the first point of contact for our regular contractors (including window cleaners, phs Group, gardener etc.)

  • To ensure that all furniture and equipment is appropriately stored

  • To retain custody of keys to the building

  • To attend the Hall, wherever possible, in the event of an emergency or at the reasonable request of the Hall Manager

  • Small handyman jobs, i.e., general property repairs

 

Support for Groups that use the hall, and events, may include:

  • Setting up rooms (moving tables & chairs)

  • Assisting with keys before & after event

  • When required showing people around the hall

  • Other duties in line with the role
